According to Facebook parent company Meta, they are going to shutdown Facial recognition system that results removal of Facial Recognition Data of more than one billion users. “This change will represent one of the largest shifts in facial recognition usage in the technology’s history,” said a blog post.

“There are many concerns about the place of facial recognition technology in society, and regulators are still in the process of providing a clear set of rules governing its use,” parent company Meta said in a statement.

Furthermore the company was trying to weigh the positive use cases for the technology “against growing societal concerns, especially as regulators have yet to provide clear rules.”
